Summer Class: Flight Training with Ground Zero Dance, May 30-June 27

This summer, Ground Zero Dance Co offers an intense physical training class, based on the regimen developed to train performers in Rob Petres’s Moment of Flight (see http://www.groundzerodance.org/flight.html or video on Rob’s MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/onemotobaby ). While we will not have the wall set up for you, Rob P. and Kat Legault will take you through a dance-based warm-up focused on strengthening and stretching, and then take you off running, literally.

Bring running shoes and be prepared to sweat. Class runs Monday and Wednesday evenings, 6:30-8:00 pm, from May 30-June 27. Class is free; donations are welcome.

If you are interested in attending, email Lea Marshall for details on the meeting place. She can testify that everyone she’s seen go through “Flight training” comes out bad-ass on the other side.

Tere O’Connor   Susan Rethorst   Ann Carlson   Roseanne Spradlin

Studio Upsun* in PennsylvaniA is a new initiative designed to provide
opportunities to engage in in-depth investigations of choreographic
practices. We have looked for rigorous and sophisticated choreographers who
are also interested in teaching and its relationship to making. We have
given them an entire week to work with a limited amount of students (max 14)
via composition, repertory, mentoring, or any combination of practices they
feel useful. It is our hope that these workshops will result in a give and
take of knowledge and practice that is rigorous, personal, intense, and
intensely pleasurable.
*Upsun: (noun) the period between the rising and setting of the sun.
