Studio Upsun in Pennsylvania is a new initiative designed to provide opportunities to engage in in-depth investigations of choreographic practices. We have looked for rigorous and sophisticated choreographers who are also interested in teaching and its relationship to making. Each choreographer will be there for one week. Please see www.wilson.edu/supa for schedule and details.

SUPA is located on the campus of Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA, 225 miles southwest of New York City and 90 miles northwest of Washington, D.C. Workshop participants are housed in the campus dormitories; cooking facilities are available, as is a shuttle service to markets and eateries. The program sponsors will host a group dinner each Friday night. The total fee is a combination of a fee for room and the workshop fee itself. The 7th Annual Richmond Choreographers Showcase, produced by Starr Foster Dance Project, is presented with the sole mission to not only offer opportunities to choreographers, but to also bring the Richmond community together and celebrate dance and the performing arts. This year’s Showcase features 9 emerging and established choreographers from Virginia, Washington D.C. and New York. Performed in the intimate setting at the Firehouse Theatre, the program offers an exciting evening of new and recent dance works within one program.

THIS YEAR’S CHOREOGRAPHERS: Charli Brissey (VA, Moving Current Dance Collective), James Hansen (NY, Program Director at SUNY Brockport’s Department of Dance), Travis Sisk (VA, independent choreographer), danah bella (VA, d a n a h b e l l a DanceWorks and dance faculty at Radford University), Kevin Jones (VA, artist of the Latin Ballet of Virginia) and Sarah Ferguson, Sarah Szymanski, Ami Dowden Fant and Starr Foster (artists from Starr Foster Dance Project).
